Rebeccca's Canine Academy

I, Rebecca Letson, hold an AAS, BT and MAT in Animal Sciences with graduate work completed at Cornell University.    I am a member of the APDT, a member of the following canine clubs:  Giant Schnauzer Club of America,  Working Riesenschnauzer Federation, Schutzengel Working Dog Club where I serve as the training director and hold a board position, and a Canine Good Citizen evaluator for the American Kennel Club.  I personally compete in Agility, IPO, Rally, Nose Work, Obedience, Tracking, Barn Hunt, and some Herding and have a proven record at the local, regional, and national level in many canine sports.

Congratulations to my girl Hemi vom Engelskotten for her invite to the  2015, 2016, and 2017 AKC Agility Invitationals.   (top 5 of each breed receive an invite to this event).      Hemi is also a two time participant in the Westminster Masters Agility Championship 24 inch class.

My training methods are based on the science of learning theory as well as an understanding of canine ethology.   Programs are under constant review to bring clients the best services in the many disciplines offered.    All clients and dogs are treated with respect and training is tailored to the needs of each team.    My programs are deeply involved in positive reinforcement as well as proven principles of operant and classical conditioning,  we build and shape the behaviors desired to achieve brilliance.

Rebecca's Canine Academy opened its doors in 2000 and has been providing the greater Binghamton NY area with dog training services of the highest quality.

About Us

Sportsmanship at all times is an important part of my programs.  The ability to congratulate a winner and cheer on those in contention for the podium as well as supporting those who may be struggling is paramount. Remember a compliment to one team is not degrading another.    Brilliance deserves recognition and building teams deserve support.
